It's easy to use your MYOB software to track the purchase and use of your company's gift certificates. Here's how you do it:
- When a customer purchases a gift certificate, create an item invoice in the Sales window. In the Sales window, enter only the customer's name in the Customer field and the amount of the gift certificate in the Paid Today field. When you're finished making these two entries, click Record. A message will appear, warning you that the invoice has very little information. Click OK in the message to record the transaction.
- When the gift certificate is redeemed, create an invoice to record the sale, just as you normally would record a sale.
- Next, locate the transaction you entered in step 1 in either the Sales Register or the Settle Returns & Credits window (depending upon the version of the MYOB software you're using). Select the transaction and apply it to the invoice you created in step 2 when the customer redeemed the gift certificate. That's all there is to it!
